Annie’s Organic Peace Pasta & Parmesan

Annie’s Organic Peace Pasta & Parmesan contains yeast extract which is processed specifically to produce free glutamic acid (MSG) from yeast. This is the only Annie’s Macaroni & Cheese product that contains yeast extract that I’m aware of. I bought this product without even looking at the ingredients (which is not like me at all). I frequently buy Annie’s Mac & Cheese products because I know they are pretty safe in regards to MSG. This one slipped past me though. It makes me wonder why Annie’s felt the need to add this form of MSG to this product, they typically appear to be really good about this sort of thing. I wouldn’t recommend this specific Annie’s product however.

Ingredients: ORGANIC SEMOLINA PASTA FROM DURUM WHEAT, ORGANIC PARMESAN CHEESE (ORGANIC CULTURED PASTEURIZED MILK, SALT, NON-ANIMAL ENZYMES), ORGANIC WHEY, ORGANIC CHEDDAR CHEESE (ORGANIC CULTURED PASTEURIZED MILK, SALT, NON-ANIMAL ENZYMES), SALT, ORGANIC CORN STARCH, ORGANIC CREAM, ORGANIC GARLIC, NATURAL SODIUM PHOSPHATE, ORGANIC ONION, YEAST EXTRACT, ORGANIC WHITE PEPPER.
